I've got one code for Rock Band... and I really want to give it away. Ok, so here are the rules.

1. Become friends with @148apps, so I can DM the code to you if you win.

2. Leave your Twitter name with your response, again, so I can DM you the code.

Ok, enough rules. Here's the contest. I want you to convince me that a certain song, whatever song you want, needs to be in Rock Band. I'm not necessarily going to pick my favorite song from the replies, I'm just going to choose the most convincing argument.

Please, so my brain doesn't explode, refrain from using shortened words like 'ur' and 'n e body' and 'every1'. I want a well thought out argument here... the app is $10!

The winner will be decided on Thursday, October 22 at 10AM MST (mountain standard time). This is a US app, so only enter if you have a US iTunes account.

Ok... and... GO!

I think Paramore's new song "Ignorance" should be in there. It is such a fantastic song not only in lyrics, but instrumentally as well. The hard chords, powerful drum beats and the energy produced by the lead singer and the rest of the band would make this song perfect for Rock Band.

"Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley NEEDS to be in Rock Band.
The song is a solid hit from the 80's, with all the key elements to make a great Rock Band song.
The song is memorable/catchy. It would be extremely fun to sing.
Solid drum track with variety.
And playing the guitar to the song would totally Rock.

There is no way you can resist rocking out to the song, and there is no reason why it shouldn't be on Rock Band. It's a well-known song that would fit in perfectly with the Rock Band catalog.

I love this song.

I believe that Back in Black by AC/DC should be included in the iPhone tracklist on Rock Band

AC/DC is one of the most well known bands in the world, especially in Rock n Roll and definitely deserves a spot in 'Rock' Band. The band has been going strong for a very long time, releasing their last album in 2008, an amazing 33 years after their debut album. There are many songs from their discography that could be added but I believe it would be fitting to add their most popular song of all time, Back in Black. For a album second only in sales to Michael Jackson's Thriller it seems like an obvious choice for a hit song that many people would know and be able to sing along to. This song has everything that makes a great song for Rock Band. A great guitar section in the true Rock style as well as some great drum and vocal work.

Even though I am more of a modern Punk Rock listener this to me seems like the ultimate track to rock off to in a game such as Rock Band.

Thanks, @Sainter

It's very hard to choose, there is so much song that need to be in Rock Band.
A good song for rock band is a song with a good solo guitar, a drum rythm that is not too much repetitive, same for basse, singing part is quite appart.

Best thing would be that RB iphone to have the same release that Rock Band 1/2 360/PS3 every week.

So I will go with a good recent DLC for Rock Band console: "I want it all" from Queen !

and best way to convince you : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWweeKCJP2o

The song I think needs to be in Rock Band is "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix.

It's got a great guitar part, it is Jimi Hendrix after all. The drums are really driving and make you really feel the music and get into the groove of the song. The bass is a perfect booming backup to Jimi's guitar and the vocals would be really interesting to play. This is such a great, trippy song that would really make you want to play it over and over again.

I think the drums would be really fun and pretty hard on that small screen, with all those rolls and crashes. The main riff has always struck me as odd, as far as the rhythm goes, but I think it would translate well to the iPhone. The guitar would be ridiculously hard on the iPod because it is constantly screeching in the background over those crazy drums. Especially towards the end where it breaks down into this freestyle jam between the players. It would be a great song to play on multiplayer, if only to watch the drummer try to pull off those fills, practically punching his screen. As far as the vocals go, the melody is rather simple, but during the break in the song where it descends into this psychadelic grunting and warbling, that would be really fun to try and play. It's really an iconic song and deserves to hold a spot in this modern game.

After writing all that, I really hope this wasn't already in the track listing or this would have been a waste of explaining.

Just to mix in some fun to the game why not add in Through the Fire and Flames by Dragon Force? It would be really fun and was a huge hit in guitar hero (I am not too sure about rockband) It will add in some extra fun into the game and will be a big challenge. Maybe it could be an unlock-able or something. After you beat every song on hard you get this song. It would be amazing. Everyone would love it! It would be great for all instruments and would only be open to the people worthy of it. It would require some fast pace tapping for bass and guitar. Drums would be harder then ever. Vocals would just be plain out crazy! I think it should be in there just because of everyones love for this song as well as it being very long to keep you occupied unlike some short songs.

I can't say much more. This is an amazing song. This is an amazing app. What more could you want?

Obviously my choice can't happen-I'm sure GH's exclusivity with Metallica goes across ALL platforms (and probably time and space), but I would love to see "Fade to Black". It's a classic song from the oft underrated and underappreciated Ride the Lightning album; my personal favorite album mostly because I love underdogs and this album was seemingly forgotten in the shadow of their next masterpiece Master of Puppets. While this album is probably their best work to date, I can't help but push for Ride the Lightning whenever I can.

Now for details as to what makes "Fade to Black" such an epic song.

In now classic metal style the song starts off with a very slow melodic beat. About 2 minutes in the tempo picks up and reminds you that you are listening to a metal song! The tempo continues to change faster and slower throughout the song, though it does it progressively heavier, keeping the listener on their toes.

More specifically there are several great guitar solos throughout, as can be found in many great Metallica songs. The solo that begins around 4 minutes is easily one of the best they have ever written. After a little research I found that the solo was ranked 24th best ever by Guitar World readers according to their wikipedia page.

Not much is needed to be said about the fun of the drum work. As with many Metallica songs (especially their early work) there is a fantastic drum pattern throughout the song.

My personal favorite instrument is also fun to play in this song. While the vocals are not taxing as far as range is concerned; I think the lyrics themselves more than make up for the challenge. I love songs written with passion and this is one of Metallica's best. As many know this song was written after the band had had some equipment stolen from them (specifically James Hetfield had an amp stolen that was his favorite) which depressed them so. What thoughts come from depression? Suicide. And thus this song was born.

On a personal note I have struggled with depression throughout my life and this song has always felt like an anthem to my march toward suicide. There are a handful of songs that I like to listen to when I'm depressed and this is one of them.

Whew, I hope I gave you some good food for thought there. Cheers!

Dream Theater - A Nightmare to Remember

There is never enough Progressive songs on all those music games... This song title would be perfectly fit for the feeling it would leave us with after playing it on Rock Band for iPhone, a real nightmare  ! Forget about what your parents used to tell you, that playing games was not healthy like doing any sports. They will change their minds immediately after trying their hands (and fingers) at this finger gymnastic/aerobic feat! ;)

The song that I want included in Rock Band is Hysteria by Muse, because first of all I love the song. Plus, this song is featured on the console version of Rock Band and is so awesome to play on. The song is just perfect for playing on with the guitar and the other instruments. The vocals are great too and if this was to come to Rock Band iPhone, it would be the perfect companion song for this game!

I heard the guy who made that song scored 862,255 on 100%!

Oh yeah, here are some 5 songs that should have been in the BEATLES rockband:

Number 5: 'She Loves You'
While 'She Loves You' is definitely one of The Beatles' more poppy songs, it's still got some fun guitar and bass parts, some cool drum rolls, and a catchy chorus.
Number 4: 'Hey Jude'
Firstly, I personally think that Hey Jude is not only the best Beatles song, it's also probably one of the greatest songs ever written period. Despite that, this song only clocks in at Number 4 because it's not a fun song to play on guitar or bass, as any bassline or guitar rift is basically absent from the song. Still, Hey Jude not being in the game is a little bit of an insult to Beatles fans.
Number 3: 'Lady Madonna'
Lady Madonna has some pounding piano, groovy bass, an awesome guitar rift, and some catchy verses. Why isn't this song in the game? I have no idea. Should it be? Yeah. It definitely should.
Number 2: 'Help!'
Help! is one of my favorite Beatles songs, and is a perfect showcase of the harmonies is the game, and sports some great guitar parts. The song being absent from the soundtrack is a little bit of a crime.
Number 1: 'Let it Be'
Let it Be is one of the most emotional and beautiful songs ever written. There are some great vocals, and an awesome guitar solo. Unlike Hey Jude, Let it Be would be fun on all instruments, and has some fantastic lyrics and harmonies.

Easy.

"We Built This City" by Starship, previously Jefferson Starship, previously Jefferson Airplane.

Why?

Because it is widely considered one of the worst, most cheesiest rock songs of all time! Talk about the ultimate guilty pleasure. It's so bad, it's almost good. You know you want to rock out to it....

Winner! I agree that AC/DC, due to their extreme popularity (Back in Black is second only to Thriller?!?!) and rocking nature, this one would be a sure fire hit.

Special thanks to the guy that picked Jefferson Starship/Airplane. Not much of a reason why given, but the YouTube video was amazing!
