And... Go.

My vote, and this one may be unpopular, is still Fieldrunners. It's just oh so slick and pretty. Sure, it doesn't have a 3d globe feel a la Star Defense, but it doesn't need one. The graphics are solid, the sound is perfect, the units are fun, and the levels are good.

My vote is for The Creeps!, but I haven't tried Star Defense yet and that looks amazing. But for now I love The Creeps!. It still has replay value after you beat the levels because it gives you motives to try to go back and get badges and it has 3 very different modes. And updates have added quite a few levels as well as an update that fixed a problem I addressed in my review. They're doing a great job with the game.

Fieldrunners by FAR.

Reason? Because it doesn't have a fixed path, allowing for more interesting and versatile game play.

Best non-iPhone tower defence game? Desktop Tower Defence.

I think the best is Defender Chronicles. The RPG elements are nice, but the actual gameplay is great as well. It is incredibly strategic, balanced, and challenging, has 5 maps (plus an unlockable one), and has great hand-drawn artwork.

I really like the Creeps. But I haven't played it as much as I've played Fieldrunners.

And I have a feeling we'll see Desktop Tower Defense on the iPhone sooner rather than later. Call it a hunch.

I feel ashamed; I haven't played Fieldrunners OR Star Defense yet...Sentinel is my current favorite of the ones I *have* played. I'm thinking about getting Fieldrunners, but with the Sims 3 on my laptop, Prototype on my wishlist, and not much discretionary income, I really ought to cut back on my spending!

My vote is for Star Defense. It is so fun + seems like they are going to keep adding to it. The Plus+ network stuff seems nifty, I only upgraded to 3.0 now so I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

I agree! Fieldrunners still does it for me. There are more complicated games out there but Fieldrunners has a very nice simplicity to it that I really like. Plus I love the art direction.
