I'm trying to get in contact with the original developers. Seems like this would be infringement:

Bizarre. I guess they at least aren't charging...

Looks very similar yeah, let the lawyers decide.

The game reminds me of Spore Origins, just much more stylized graphics.

Cheers,
Jeff

I honestly think the accelerometers in the iphone respond better (in this case) than the sixaxis/dualshock3. Touch control for close proximity might make the higher levels a bit too easy though...

I'm impressed by the implementation. Hopefully permission was given...

Yeah, I wrote a little bit about it here. (http://www.astrosaurus.com/simulation/aquatica-an-unabashed-flow-clone-launches-for-free.html)

I'm kinda shocked on how similar they are. They didn't even really try change things at all. Also, in the description they call it their "unique" new title. Made this side by side.

1up writes about it here: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3174929

No permission.

The maker of Aquatic asks, "what's wrong with adapting a general idea of one game to the iPhone? No one had done this before, and we wanted to play it with tilt controls. In general, most games within each class are practically the same, just different graphics."

Wow...

1Up points out that Sony own the mobile rights (PSP) to the original game, Flow. So we're unlikely to ever see an official iPhone versions. Grab this version before the cease and desist!

The developers of Aquatic were contacted by the developers of Flow. I saw the App store description change, actually. It's no longer "new and completely unique" or whatever they were claiming before; now it actually gives the nod to Flow and completely admits to being a port. Apparently the original devs of Flow wanted it that way. Who knows what's happening with the revenue, though!
