For the Canadians, just create a free US account and redeem your codes. You can still use your Canada account for apps that work in Canada and your US account for the US apps. Plus, you can still have apps from both accounts on the iphone at the same time.

I think that you will need a US account to use the apps. Sorry Canada.

due to strict tax regulation on how software is sold in Canada, Apple requires everyone to buy the apps with credit card only.

Also, promo codes will only work with US, and Apple has no plans on expanding the promo codes outside US, this is due to strict licensing system, and anti-piracy measure.

Go to the iTunes store and at the bottom change it from Canada to US. Then go to create an account in the APP store, not the iTunes store and there should be a no payment option.

It's there to cut down on spam.

It gets turned off for users once you've posted 50 times or have a reputation of 50 or more. (hit the +/- in the message header to add or remove reputation from a user).

I could turn it off, but then every other message would be spam and you guys would never see the promo codes.
